About Dazzler:
Dazzler (Alison Blaire) has a mutant ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, Dazzler was developed as a cross-promotional, multi-media creation between Casablanca Records and Marvel Comics until the tie-ins were dropped in 1980.
Despite the fact that Dazzler was commissioned as a disco singer, the character shifted to other musical genres, including rock and adult contemporary. She has been described as one of Marvel's most notable and powerful female heroes, being labelled as an LGBT icon.
About the Creation:
Number four in a multi-print series featuring the strong young women of the X-Men as members of a roller derby team. "Dazzler was a late addition to the team of ‘roller derby’ X-Men strong women. She completed the team along with Jean, Storm and Rogue. When I was finished, I thought maybe She-Hulk could be the fifth member. She’s not an X-Men member but she would definitely add power to any roller derby team.” – Francine Delgado
